Cultural trip to Cuba

Program

Saturday April 5: Havana

Flight from Paris – arrival in Havana;
Transfer from the airport to the Vedado district with a local family;
Dinner with Carlos’ family and night-time stroll in the city.

Sunday April 6: Havana

10am-12pm Casino and Sound class at “la Casa del Son”;
Lunch at the Doña Eutimia restaurant;
Visit to the historic center of the old town;
Dinner and dancing at the 1830.

Monday April 7: Viñales

9am departure for Viñales;
Stop at the Los Jazmines hotel to enjoy the splendid view;
Lunch at the ecological farm in town and accommodation with the locals;
Salsa suelta lessons with Carlos and Adel;
Dinner at the locals’ house and dance party in town.

Tuesday April 8: Viñales

9am departure for Cayo Jutia beach;
Lunch on the beach;
Dinner in a restaurant all together and dance evening according to the program.

Wednesday April 9: Viñales

Excursion to a farm in the surroundings of Viñales;
Lunch at the Ecological Farm;
Salsa suelta course, body expression and free time;
Dinner in a restaurant all together and dance party according to the program.

Thursday April 10: Trinidad

8am departure for Trinidad and accommodation with locals;
Lunch on the road;
Walking tour of the city accompanied by Carlos;
Dinner at the Jazz Café and dance evening according to the city’s program.

Friday April 11: Trinidad

From 10am to 12pm Sound class with live musicians and lunch at Javier’s;
Ancón Peninsula beach;
Dinner at the Jazz Café and dance party at the “Casa de la musica”.

Saturday April 12: Trinidad

From 10am to 12pm live rumba class and lunch at Javier’s;
Ancón Peninsula beach, horseback riding or free time in Trinidad;
Dinner at the Jazz Café and dance party at the “Casa de la musica”.

Sunday April 13: Trinidad

10 classes in body expression and integration into Cuban dances accompanied by live percussionists and lunch at Javier’s;
Free time in Trinidad, beach, craft market;
Dance evening according to the city’s program.

Monday April 14: Cienfuegos

10am departure to Cienfuegos and accommodation with locals;
Lunch in the historic center of Cienfuegos;
Accommodation with locals and visit of the historic center of the city;
Dance evening according to the city’s program.

Tuesday April 15: Cienfuegos Caleta Buena

Departure for Caleta Buena and lunch there;
Return at 4 p.m. to Cienfuegos;
Dinner in town and dance evening according to the city’s program.

Wednesday April 16: Havana

9am departure for Havana and lunch on the road;
Arrival at a local’s house in the Vedado district;
Dinner at Carlos’ family’s house;
Dance evening according to the city’s program.

Thursday April 17: Havana

10am-12pm Casino and Rueda classes with the Aleida troupe;
Lunch at the Doña Eutimia restaurant;
Havana craft market;
Dinner and evening at 1830;
Dance evening according to the city’s program.

Friday April 18: Havana

10am to 12pm dance lessons at the “Casa del son”;
Lunch in the historic center;
Free time in Havana, possibility of taking private lessons at the “Casa del son”;
Dinner at Carlos’ family’s house;
Dance evening according to the city’s program.

Saturday April 19: Havana

American car ride (10€ per person not included);
Rooms vacated around 12 noon;
Lunch in town, last city tour of Havana;
Farewell dinner at Carlos’ family’s;
Departure to the airport.

Information

  1. The program may be subject to change depending on the number of participants.
  2. Each person will be accompanied by a Cuban dancer during the classes.
  3. Participants will be in a double room, if you want a single room a supplement of €250 will be requested.
  4. It is possible to add private lessons to the program, the cost is €15 per hour (the arrangements for arranging schedules will be discussed directly with the “Culture danse & musique” association).
  5. Carlos Rafael Gonzalez Justo:
    Choreographer and teacher of traditional Cuban dances, Carlos is one of the most famous Cuban teachers in France with 20 years of experience in teaching different traditional Cuban dances: casino, Cuban salsa, son, cha cha cha…
    Through his pedagogy and methodology, he has managed to find an excellent result in the training of his students.
    For Carlos, the practice of traditional Cuban dance is a therapy, a personal accomplishment leading to the development of the best of oneself.
  6. Adel Martinez:
    Born in Havana (Cuba), Adel is a renowned Cuban dancer who has proven himself at a very young age in several dance companies.
    From the age of 12, he learned casino (salsa), mambo, cha cha cha, rumba, Afro-Cuban dances…
    From the age of 14 to 20, he specialized in opening balls for the “quinceañera”, a traditional celebration widespread throughout Latin America symbolizing the important passage from childhood to womanhood for the young girl celebrating her 15th birthday.
    Then in 2004, Adel arrived in France where he began teaching and transmitting his passion for Cuban Son and Casino (Salsa) at the RMP dance school. Since
    2006, he has shared his know-how in various festivals and dance schools in France and internationally.
    Adel is one of Alessia and Jérôme’s Caribbean dance trainers.

Registration

  1. We will ask you to kindly pay 100€ to the benefit of the association “Culture danse & musique” on the association’s account.

    The payment of the trip registration is final and cannot be subject to any refund/transfer/exchange in the event of cancellation by the registrant.
  1. We would ask you to kindly send us proof of payment of your plane ticket as well as the plane ticket, as soon as possible by email to the association’s email address:

  2. A passport with a visa for Cuba valid for the entire duration of the stay.

The visa application is made online at https://evisacuba.cu and costs €22.

  1. Provide €1700 in cash
    to give in Cuba to pay for: 

    • Bus transfers: Havana, Viñales, Trinidad, Cienfuegos and Havana.
    • Homestay accommodation;
    • Meals: breakfasts, lunches and dinners;
    • Dance classes;
    • The dance parties.
  2. Plan on around €200 in cash for drinks at parties and personal purchases (cocktails, crafts, tobacco, rum, etc.).
